The government of the UK in partnership with some universities in the country has been awarding scholarships to international students especially those from low-income countries.
So, for Kenyan students who wish to study in the UK, here is a collection of the undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. scholarships in the UK for you.
As the UK continues to show her commitment to the Commonwealth, the government in collaboration with universities supports several students who wish to undertake postgraduate studies in the UK.
The Commonwealth Scholarship scheme targets students from Commonwealth countries who without the scholarship would not be able to pay for their studies. Here is a list of the commonwealth scholarships available for Kenyan students who intend to study in the UK:
Commonwealth Ph.D. Scholarships – Meant to benefit talented students from least developed and fragile countries in the commonwealth to pursue full-time doctoral studies at UK universities.
Commonwealth Split-site Scholarships- awarded to Ph.D. students from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, to spend a year at a UK university as part of their doctoral studies in their home country.
Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships- awarded to students from lower and upper-middle-income Commonwealth countries, to study for a full-time master’s degree at a UK university.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarships- awarded to students from least developed and lower-middle-income Commonwealth countries, for a full-time Master’s degree.
Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships- are offered to high-performing postgraduate students who wish to gain knowledge and skills not available in their home countries, but wish to remain in their home country.
Commonwealth Medical Fellowships- these opportunities are offered to mid-career medical staff from low and middle-income countries in the Commonwealth to advance their medical skills.
Commonwealth Professional Fellowships- awarded to mid-career professionals from low- and middle-income countries to work in a UK organization, under their sector to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford University for International Students-
The Rhodes Scholarships are awarded to highly performing postgraduate international students wishing to study at the University of Oxford.
Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students- these are awarded to outstanding candidates across the globe to study a full-time postgraduate degree of their choice offered at the University of Cambridge.
Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships- Kenyan Ph.D. students can get an opportunity to study at the University of Edinburgh in the UK through this program.
British Chevening Scholarships for International Students- funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Chevening Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Kenyan scholars who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the field of their choice at a university in the UK.
Clarendon Fund Scholarships at the University of Oxford- the scholarship is awarded to the most excellent Kenyan students who intend to study at the University of Oxford in the UK.
Bristol University Think Big Scholarships- this scholarship is awarded to bright international students to study at the University of Bristol at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarships- awarded to the highly excelling Kenyan students who have already received a letter of admission to the University of Sussex.
University of Westminster Full International Scholarships- students from the international bracket, particularly those from developing countries (Kenya included) are invited to apply for this scholarship which supports full-time undergraduate candidates.
Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarships- Awarded to international students who wish to study a postgraduate degree of their choice at Warwick in the UK. Hence Kenyan students can benefit from this program.
Nottingham Developing Solutions Scholarships- Awarded to international students who wish to pursue a Master’s Degree at the University of Nottingham and later contribute to the development of their home nations.
The Denys Holland Scholarship at University College London- Awarded to undergraduate students from all around the world, who without the scholarship would not be able to support their studies at the University College London.
GREAT Scholarships – Kenya
GREAT Scholarships awards a number of scholarships from UK universities, in various courses. The scholarship is jointly funded by the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign.
